Ateq H520 (hydrogen)

ATEQ H520 leak detector for precise detection and location of very small leaks, adapted for automatic, semi-automatic or manual operation in production lines, testing stations and laboratories.

Perfect solution for industries requiring leakage location and leak size measurement in g/year or ppm (parts per million).

The H520 hydrogen leak detector operates on similar principles as helium leak detectors, but instead of helium it detects the presence of hydrogen. The hydrogen leak detector is used with technical gases, which are widely available, safe and cheap, like 95% NITROGEN (N2) with 5% HYDROGEN (H2) mixture.

Hydrogen leak detection has been widely used for years, mainly in Scandinavian countries and Germany. The mixture of Nitrogen and Hydrogen is an excellent gas for leak detection, and is also completely safe, as the gas is non-toxic, ecological, and non-flammable in contact with air.

Compared to vacuum leak testing, the hydrogen detector:

  • enables leak location,
  • is not dependent on the volume of the tested part,
  • is not sensitive to temperature fluctuations,
  • has much higher measurement sensitivity.

Compared to helium, the gas used by the hydrogen detector:

  • is much cheaper,
  • is the lightest of gases,
  • has lower viscosity,
  • expands faster inside the tested part,
  • reaches and penetrates defects quicker,
  • is easier to remove and ventilate,
  • disperses quickly after leaking into the atmosphere,
  • enables quick resumption of testing even after detecting very large leaks,
  • is environmentally friendly according to ISO 14001.
